About Little Otter

What services do you offer?

We offer virtual mental health services for children 0-18 and their adult caregivers. We provide individual child and adult therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, parent coaching, and psychiatric services including medication management for both children and adults.

What states is Little Otter available in?

Little Otter is currently available in the following states:

California, Colorado, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia

If I have a US address but live abroad, can you provide services internationally?

No, Little Otter cannot provide services internationally, even if you have an address in the United States.

Do you have parent coaching sessions?

Yes! Our Parenting Specialists focus on supporting you in managing child behaviors - not only the behaviors that you can see, but also the behaviors you don’t see but you want to see more often. A Parenting Specialist’s goal is to give you more tools as a parent to support you, and give you a plan to deal with day-to-day parenting struggles.

Where can I access Little Otter care?

Little Otter is currently able to work with families in select states. We’re expanding nationwide as quickly as we can!

For our Care Team to provide services, you must be located in your home state during all scheduled appointments.

Do you have a psychiatrist/med management?

Yes, we do have a team of child and adult psychiatrists who conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and offer medication management should that be indicated.

Do you provide individual adult therapy or couples counseling?

Yes, we offer individual therapy services for adult caregivers and couples counseling services. We also offer parent coaching with our Parenting Specialist team in the case of parent misalignment, and co-parenting support.

What ages of children do you see?

We offer virtual therapy and psychiatry services for children 0-18 years old.

What issues/challenges do you address?

Our providers have experience across a wide range of concerns. A non-exhaustive list of concerns we can help with are anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, ADHD, behavioral challenges, OCD, grief/loss. However, we do not assess for Autism Spectrum Disorder at this time.

Can you treat my child if I have a partial custody with an ex-spouse?

To provide care, we must receive consent from all caregivers that have legal custody of the child. We will provide documentation to be completed prior to rendering services with the child.

How much do services cost?

Kickoff Call: Complementary

Therapy
Assessment: $350
Therapy Session: $200 per session

Parent Specialty
Assessment: $200
Parent Speciality Session: $200 per session

Psychiatry
Psychiatry Initial Evaluation: $500
Psychiatry Session: $250 per session

When do I have to pay for services?

Services will be charged to the credit card on file 23 hours prior to the start of the session to align with our >24hr cancellation policy. You’ll receive an receipt via email.

What is your payment policy?

The credit card on file will be charged 23hrs prior to your session to align with Little Otter’s 24hr cancellation policy. If the credit card is declined, we will contact you directly to coordinate an alternate method of payment. Please note, if there is an outstanding balance on your account, your care may be interrupted or terminated until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

Do you accept insurance?

We are currently in-network with:

Independence Blue Cross*
AmeriHealth (NJ)
Sana
Florida Blue
Kaiser - Northern California
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota

We have additional insurance partnerships that may provide referrals directly. Check with your insurance provider to see if you are eligible for coverage.

All therapy sessions are HSA/FSA eligible. Parent specialist sessions will be contingent on an individual's insurance plan.

Are your services reimbursable?

Generally PPO plans will reimburse 40-70% of the session after you have met your deductible however it will be dependent on your personal coverage

Please note parent specialist services are generally not reimbursable without associated therapy sessions

Medicaid plans do not offer reimbursement for any services.

Tricare plans do not offer reimbursement for any services.

Do you accept HSA/FSA?

All sessions are HSA/FSA eligible. Parent specialist sessions will be contingent on an individual's insurance plan.

How do you purchase a bundle?

You can purchase a bundle one of two ways:

- Please message your care team via your Little Otter profile messaging to request a bundle

- You can also reach out to us at hello@littleotterhealth.com and we would be happy to help you purchase a bundle.

How and when will I be charged for the package?

You will receive an invoice soon after your package has been created. The card on file will be processed for the full amount.

Can I receive a refund if there are unused sessions in my package?

Unused sessions within a packages are not refundable. Your Care Team will align you with the package that best aligns with the trajectory of your care plan.

When can I purchase a package?

Packages can be purchased at any point during your care. However, sessions cannot be placed retroactively into a purchased package.

Can I include prior sessions in a newly created package?

Unfortunately, previously completed sessions cannot be retroactively placed into a package.

Can I purchase multiple packages?

You may continue to purchase additional packages to fit your family's care.

Can I upgrade my package after I have already purchased one?

Yes! Please contact help@littleotterhealth.com to request the upgrade.

Are packages reimbursable with insurance?

Purchased packages can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. However only completed sessions for the month will be included in the reimbursement documentation.

Do I have to schedule all the sessions in my package at time of purchase?

Packages will continue to be filled with your scheduled sessions automatically throughout your care. All your sessions do not need to be scheduled at the time of purchase.

Can I replace a missed session in my package without penalty?

Missed sessions included in a package will not be removed if Little Otter was not notified within the >24hr policy. The missed session will still occupy a slot.

Can I reschedule an appointment in a package?

Yes - if a session is rescheduled more than 24 hrs prior to session start time, the original session will not occupy one of the package slots.

Can my whole family's sessions be included in one package?

Yes! All of your family's sessions may be included under one package.

Care Experience

Who needs to participate in the Kickoff Session?

Only caregivers should be present on the Kickoff Session. This is intended for you to speak freely with your Care Navigator about the challenges you are looking to address.

Where can I find my zoom info?

You can find the Zoom meeting information in a few different ways:

You can find the link in all email appointment confirmation and reminders. These are sent 24 hours and 30 minutes prior your appointment.

You can also find all Zoom links directly on your Little Otter account along the top banner. Please select the top banner to expand your upcoming sessions and select the session to retrieve/join the Zoom link.

How do I find a form/screener/assessment that was sent to me?

Look in the email inbox associated with your Little Otter account for an email with the subject “[Provider Name] at Little Otter has sent you a form”

This email will contain a link to the form and a “password” that must be entered after clicking on the link.

If you cannot locate the email, please contact your Care Team via LO messaging or help@littleotterhealth.com and we would be happy to resend it to you.

How do I add an additional caregiver to my account?

You can add an additional caregiver by logging into the Little Otter app, navigating to the menu (upper right) and selecting "Account" then "Family Management," and then click “Add New Caregiver."

The new caregiver will receive an invitation to the Little Otter app where they can set a password.

NOTE: Adding a caregiver gives them full access to appointment information, messaging threads, and session notes. If the additional caregiver should not have full access, please reach out to your provider or help@littleotterhealth.com and we will add them for you with limited access.

How do I see a full month of scheduled appointments?

You can see all your upcoming appointments by logging into the Little Otter app.

How do I schedule an appoinment?

If you would like to speak to a licensed provider and begin your care, please schedule your Kickoff Session via your Little Otter account.

How do I view my care team?

To view your care team, navigate to the three horizontal lines in the upper right hand corner. Select "Account" and “Care Team”

How can I view my session notes?

Login to your Little Otter account and scroll to the bottom to view after session summaries.
