Mental Health Awareness Month is about moving from awareness to action this year. As leaders in youth behavioral health, we’re uniting in our shared commitment to taking action on youth mental health—not just one month a year—but 365 days a year.

This year's Mental Health Action Day theme, 'Dedicate One Hour to Connection,' underscores a simple truth: feeling connected to, seen, and understood by a trusted adult is one of the most potent strategies for supporting youth mental health. Strong relationships are proven to improve youth well-being, and those same relationships enable early intervention, which is vital for mitigating the downstream impacts on unmet mental health needs.

For youth and the caring adults in their ecosystem alike, it’s important to remember it's normal to experience mental health challenges and okay to talk about the need for support in overcoming those challenges. So, take a moment to connect today. Check-in on a student, friend, or colleague. And check in with yourself.

But, beyond the month and moment, remember this conversation about mental health going on all year long and remind each other that no one has to face their struggles alone. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of young people and create a brighter future for all. 💙
